Local crop varieties in modern agriculture

The Municipality of Andros, the LIFE program of Andros and the Agricultural University of Athens are organizing for the weekend April 25-26 a conference on “Local varieties in today΄s agriculture”.
The lectures will take place on Saturday, April 25, at 8 pm in Polychoros of Batsi -a multipurpose hall near the Kindergarten- and Sunday, the 26th of April at 11.30 am on the High School in Gavrio.
The topics to be developed are:
1) The local varieties and their relevance for today΄s agriculture. Rapporteur speaker will be Mrs. Penelope Bebelis, a Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens.
2) The results recording varieties of fruit and vines of Andros. Rapporteur speaker will be Mr. Frangiskos Loukrezis, Agriculturist of Municipality of Andros.
3) The results of the annual collection of local varieties of Andros. Rapporteur speaker will be Mr. Rikos Thanopoulos, Agriculturist of the Agricultural University of Athens.
