January 2014 report

During January our team continued the monitoring of the rat eradication activities as well as the preparation of artificial nests to be placed on the islets, as soon as the weather permits such interventions.

Regular visits to the cultivated project fields are being carried out in order to check their status, especially the protection fences.

After many talks with elderly locals, we have gathered all necessary knowledge regarding the introduction of pigeons in the deserted pigeon tower of the project and soon the process will begin. This tower, among with the other two, will be monitored regurarly throughout the project duration.

The environmental education material is also been elaborated in its final stages, involving graphic works and drawings.

An attractive 2014 wall calendar has been produced and distributed in Andros island.

Finally, the preparation of a presentation for the project at the EU premises in
Athens on February 10 has been among the team efforts during January.
